Jean-Jacques Rivet

Founder of the Concept

As a young man Jean-Jacques Rivet participated in competitive sport while studying for an engineering degree, and was with his Nice water polo team, leading it to a league title.

He then set his sights on the embryonic funboard-scene, with the Team Fanatic, which won in speed everything there was to win under the auspices of the  Professional Boardsailing Association during the1990s.

In 1989, JJ became a world speed record-holder on the Slalom Production Board.

His competitive sports career was brought to an end after a serious accident. While being treated in hospital for his injuries, he discovered kinesiology for the first time.

Desperate to get back to the sports arena as soon as possible, he linked his interest in kinesiology with biomechanics and his engineering know-how in order to evaluate new ways of combining engineering, anatomy, physiology and bioenergy.

Contact with these fields brought enlightenment to the young sport engineer, and soon he realised that it was possible to connect the laws of mechanics with those of anatomy and arrive at a complete solution.

As long ago as 1985, JJ. Rivet lectured in biomechanics and sports biomechanics at the University of Montpellier, then at Nice University. He is now involved at the Aix Marseille University as Research Associate at the Biomechanic Laboratory, and teaches applied biomechanics.

His extensive experience in golf and his knowledge of biomechanics, which has earned him worldwide respect, have combined to produce many champions.

JJ Rivet MSC.2 , is Head of the Sport Performance department of the European Tour Performance Institute ,he is co-founding with Rob Hillman Head of the European Tour Physio Unit .

He is Member of the European Tour Performance Institute Medical advisory board .

He is head of the UnderArmour Innovation Center for Europe, and is the Biomechanist of the French Golf Team.

He is research associate at the Institute of Movement Science,University of the Meditterranean-Marseille .
